It's been a great six years, I had a ton of fun and learned a lot, but today is my last day with the university.

Severance in hand, bag full of assorted odds 'n' ends from my desk, and the offer of numerous letters of recommendation from my fellow teachers and the deans.

It's been a hell of a ride, folks. I'm going to go home, change into some toasty jammies, and cuddle with Baby Smeaguette.

This ain't the end. It takes more than being laid off to kill a Smeagol. This makes the second time I've been laid off, but at the end of the day, I remember that which matters most:
